What was my experience after entering this competition? Well for me entering this competition was to really get the experience of doing automation. This competition was more that just a competition for me, I have learnt a lot just by doing the task assignments.

About the task

For this project, I was tasked to automate a shopping website with the Applitools modern testing tool “Applitools Eyes” and using the traditional way of doing automation. This activity was created to make a comparison between doing automation the traditional way and using the applitools eyes. With reference to a snippet from their website “with Applitools Eyes, businesses can ship visually perfect applications on nearly any browser or device by replicating the ‘human eye’ and automatically spotting visual bugs and defects”. My experience 

My experience with using the Applitools eyes was made pretty easy, there was very little coding that was needed to complete the task. In addition to that, a visual report of the changes made to the project was made available to me within the application, this highlights the changes that were made to the project. 

My main objectives of this competition was really to get a real life experience of doing automation, as well as, the chance to learn a tool that I could be potentially useful within my daily work. Luckily after completing this competition I was granted a silver position within the competition year 2020 of which I am proud of. 

I would definitely recommend this competition to any individual who is looking to gain a knowledge of doing automation testing. I trust that it would help you as it did to me.
