My Story

HELLO! I’M ANDREA CUMBERS

I consider myself an introvert. I like spending time with close friends and family. I thrive on exploring, whether it be new places or food, as long as the atmosphere is right, I am all for it. I’m your everyday type of gal who has interest in meeting new people and creating a network with people who are actually heading in the same directions as I am. However, all play and no work, also makes Jane a dull girl.

My passion lies with computers or more specifically, softwares. As one of the early batches of Millennials, technology has been a steadfast part of my childhood. Growing up and being exposed to the world of technology breathes inspiration. I fell in love with Information Technology during my high school years and to date, it is still where my passion lies. It wasn’t always easy but I knew from an early stage that me pursuing a career in that field was a must in my future.

Currently Certified as a Software Tester, I am now employed as a Software Developer in Test for a very prestigious company, which now gives me the responsibility of testing software and applications, and ensuring that they are of the highest quality before they are actually deployed in production.

Even though I was aiming for my dream job, I still pride myself on the works I did, and the experiences I gained in the accounting sector. It is because of this time why I can say that my eye for details and critical testing became developed. Who knew that experience in accounting could aid in the field of Information Technology?. Oliver Wendell Holmes, a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States once said, “ a mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” A little knowledge here and there can assist in your future development as it did with mine.

Testing is very critical and can result in life altering situations if not carefully handled. Wow! How crazy is that? We live in a technological era, and as the years go by, new advancements are introduced to the world. Did you know, before you can use your computer, your smart phone, tablets, televisions (smart or otherwise), the ATMs that we so love, the Kiosk that make payments easier, the internet, the life support machines in the hospitals, the electronic equipment in the hospitals or gyms, and the list is endless, there is someone like me, in my capacity as Software testing, who has to ensure that the softwares installed to make these work, are working at maximum capacity? Software testing has given me an appreciation for the development of products or applications in the market as some products can be life dependent and would need to be properly tested before being released for greater production. That is how important my field of work has become and not a day goes by that I am not grateful to be a part of it.

I love structure and order as I highly stand for quality. I love spending time assisting customers using products and help in also fixing issues that they might also encounter. Most importantly, I like working in a team, you’ll learn faster and much more with sharing ideas, team building and development. As the saying goes: ‘two heads are better than one’. All in all, I simply just love what I do and it is my hope that others can achieve their dream or find passion in what they do.
